Hello everyone,

I am working on a 2.4 GHz rectifier using Keysight ADS and facing significant discrepancies between circuit co-simulation, EM/layout simulation, and experimental measurement results. I would appreciate suggestions from anyone experienced with RF rectifier simulations.

My setup and issues are summarized below:

Rectifier configuration: HSMS-2850 Schottky diode-based rectifier, operating around 2.4–2.45 GHz, with a load resistance of approximately 6 kΩ (6144–6240 Ω) and a 1 pF capacitor.

Large co-simulation mismatch: The ADS schematic simulation predicts a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of around 70%, whereas the EM layout-based simulation gives only around 5%, despite apparently reasonable schematic-level results.

DC output voltage: At 0 dBm input power, the schematic simulation predicts approximately 1.4–2.0 V DC, depending on the load and configuration. I am trying to understand the significant degradation when moving to layout/EM co-simulation.

S-parameter and impedance issues: LSSP and Harmonic Balance (HB) simulations indicate reasonably good input matching, but the fabricated circuit does not show the expected S11 dip near 2.4 GHz. The measured impedance/matching behavior differs considerably from the simulation.
Layout and EM setup: I am simulating the rectifier separately in ADS Momentum with a finite bottom ground plane. I am unsure whether the port placement, ground/reference configuration, diode interface, component footprints, and EM-to-circuit connections are contributing to the mismatch.
I would be grateful for a systematic troubleshooting procedure to identify whether the primary problem lies in the diode model, EM co-simulation setup, port/reference-plane definition, component footprints, impedance matching, or experimental measurement procedure.

If anyone has encountered a similar issue in ADS, especially a large PCE drop from schematic simulation to Momentum co-simulation and poor measured S11 despite good simulated matching, please share your experience or recommended settings.
